I'm really not sure at this point if he actually ate any or not and I'm not sure how he got a hold of them but he absolutely found some somewhere cause he chewed at least one 43 g box to pieces and maybe two of D-con pellets

He weighs about 70 pounds so I'm imagining it would take a decent amount to be toxic though looking around online hasn't been real helpful for a dog of his size

We have a call into the vet emergency line to see what they say but was just gonna see what the OB thought of the situation

SO is out getting some vitamin K1 right now to give him and he seems fine so far and ingestion should've occurred around 3-4 hours ago though from what I've read it's a fairly slow acting poison on bigger dogs

TIA

If you have one of those syringes that squirt children's Tylenol that is what we used

Yea that's what I'm trying right now though for some reason my dumbass can't get the syringe to "load" for lack of a better term

I put a little in a bowl and he barely drank any of it and still threw up a decent amount, he def got into some poison as his vomit is light greenish/blue

Vomit has lost its color and gone to white and foamy now so I'm thinking I'm making progress

Hate to do it but gonna keep making him throw up some more to be sure unless there's some risk with that idk about

this is why you don't use concoctions like the widely used internet cocktail of golden malrin and jam to kill rats... you dog would have long been dead.....

it takes a heck of a lot of rat poison to kill a rat much less a dog....

My dumbass male ate one of those tray things full of rat poison. I gave him peroxide as soon as I found the empty tray, but then found a green turd in the yard that was obviously several days old. He never showed any signs of distress and the vet said he was fine. I'm sure a Pomeranian would be in trouble but a dog that size would have to eat a LOT to show any real symptoms. I'd still let the vet take a look just to be sure but there's a 99% chance your dog is fine.

Your dog food should have vitamin k in it. Just feed him dog food.

Get him to the emergency room asap. I had a German Shepard die from that when I was a kid. GOOD LUCK!!

Yea I was able to get ahold of the vet (my SO is a complete idiot but that's another story) and he said since I got him to throw up so fast he was sure that the dog would be fine but told me if it was him he would still put him on some K1

So $80 and some unpleasant moments for my dog later we are back to normal and everything seems like it will be fine. Thankful this didn't turn into too much of a pain in the arse even if I got conned into buying the K1

My dogs are all likely family so not a big deal to spend the money on him, gonna be damn sure that all the rat poison is where he can't get it from now on though

Thanks everybody for the help

If you're ever having trouble getting your dog to drink hydrogen peroxide, mix in a tablespoon of sugar and he'll lap up every last drop. Works like a charm on my Boykin and labkin.

There's a pretty good chance you got a bit of it out. The vitamin K is a good idea - make sure to give as long as your vet recommends

About once or twice a day just check his gums and eyelids to make sure they're nice and pink. If you see them become pale or develop any red splotches (petechia) in these areas call vet asap.

Also watch his urine and feces to make sure he isn't passing blood in them. The urine will look rust colored. The feces will be very black in color. Sudden onset lethargy, coughing, exercise intolerance also to watch out for. All of these are a problem

bring him to the vet. This happened to my roomies dog once. My dog went to the vet as well because we didn't know which dog ate it. The type of poison that the dog ate messes with the brain. He was a dummy before but now he can't run in a straight line. He side tracks lol

If you insist on going to poison route, I would suggest you get some of those black boxes that hold the poison but don't allow anything bigger a rat to get in.
