Little Dong 1 competed in the junior division at the Southern Regionals this weeknd at Hunter's Run - skeet, trap & sporting clays. And, while he didn't shoot his best or qualify for state, he had a blast and has gained a ton of confidence since the start of the season.

One of the greatest experiences in life is to watch your child's confidence grow as he gets better at something through hard work.

Way to go little Dong...

The Ukiah Gun club has a jr skeet club that I've been thinking about getting little DC into. He is great at busting clays now so I would hope that a little official competition would suit him well.

We started at 9 and were out of there at 12. I heard the seniors had a LONG day. One of the Sr dads has a Jr shooter that was in our group. Great to see that many kids involved.

I feel sorry for the dad having to buy those left handed guns and not using hand me downs.

I have watched those kids, they are awesome.

great dads can change the world

that must have been more fun than a gun grabber will ever have in his life, or be allowed to have

Just get him & ou

Better to have a left dom eye shooter learn to shoot left handed than a left Dom eye shooter shoot right handed.

LONG ain't the word! we started at 8am and didn't leave till 5:30-ish and there were still kids shooting. there was a MASSIVE 2.5 - 3 hr delay at the end that really messed up the shooters and probably caused several to miss qualifying for state.
the event has really outgrown hunter's run facility for the entire southern regional qualifer. imo, they need to split the southern half of the state.
all-in-all it is an excelent program to get kids into shooting sports.

Even worse, he is right handed but left eye dominant. He gets better everytime he shoots, but it was a struggle for him to switch to shooting left handed. Especially, since he's been shooting right handed since a very early age. It explains a lot as to why he couldn't hit a target.

My daughter competed in the Jr. Compound bow division this weekend at Lamar Dixon and shot her best round ever and got an invite to state next month in Shreveport!

Lafayette's shotgun program is huge. It has reached the point where the only way a school club can have the program is if they get their own certified trainers whereas other programs have instructors that cover the whole parish.

Last I heard they were upwards of 300.

Yes, Lafayette was well represented and one of the kids from there missed a perfect round of skeet on the last shot - gutwrenching.

This.

Congrats on introducing him to clays shooting. Folks find it hard to play football, basketball, tennis, etc. when they hit age 60-70. But you & he can shoot clays for a LONG (pun intended) time.
