3 year old Springfield XD is worth....?

Got a friend looking to sell his Springfield XD .40, 4". Said he's hoping to get $400 for it. The gun is in good shape and he's put about 2k rounds through it at the range.
Not that I need another .40, I love my gen4 glock 23. But one can never have enough firearms.....
Do y'all think $400 is too steep? Curious to see what the OB price is

I would think that is a little on the high side if you can get a brand new one at Academy for $450ish.

I paid $419 for a brand new XD-s 9MM with the 3.3 inch barrel several months ago. It would be hard to pay $20 less for one that is used.

Check out the auction sites for a good estimation. Does he have any extras like holsters, mags, etc? Being a .40 doesnt help at the present moment either as it's currently the bastard middle child in the world of pistol fads.

Unloaded an XD and an XDs for a friend of mine about 2wks ago for $700. The XD had never been shot and the XDs had 2 mags thru it.

FWIW I just bought a brand new XDS 9mm with 350 rounds for 475. It's not a 40 but should give you a decent price comparison.

It's a bad deal, but to be fair, those comparing it to their purchase of an XDs are making a bad comparison considering the XDs line new is $50+ cheaper than a new XD.

Also keep in mind that the 3" barrel "Subcompact" is about $100 cheaper than the 4" barrel "full size" which is what the OP said this gun has.
