Me little balls a pops had a fine hunt yesterday. I whipped pops arse 5-1. Of course he was shooting a .22 one handed on account of his recently carpel tunnel surgery. But I'll take w. Would have had a limit but jr's injun skillz ain't fully developed. He sounds like a herd of armadillos coming thru the woods.

Hunted south of Kaplan and the group of us ended up with 11 cat squirrels. The wind made it hard to spot them.

Also killed 4 of these.

It was very windy yesterday. I'm surprised we managed to get any.

I think the picture after the water pump base is a knob from an old dryer.

I could see that being a dryer.

I walked back there again today to see. I can't make out what the wording says. It's too worn. Fairly certain is says KENMORE

Cool pics KR. Was going to say that the first pic is the base of a water pump, but someone beat me to it. I have no idea what the other pic is. Does it have a door on it or anything?

That old cabin is awesome! I know it would be a lot of work but it would be cool to restore it and make an hunting camp out of it if it's on your land.

Edit: didn't see the above pics until after I posted.

Anyway, our opening day wasn't that spectacular. Only saw two squirrels all day, weather was perfect but nothing was moving at all. But, I did get to spend some time in the woods with my oldest son. He's already begging to go again this weekend.

i would love to have some wood out of that old house, KR...if it ever gets to where you wont restore it. Some fine stuff to put in my next house or camp.

we had a party at the camp friday night for squirrel season, only a couple went hunting the next day. one fella and his 9 year old. they killed 5. rest of the losers slept in, inlcuding me.

our squirrel season doesnt really start until after a cool front.....and really until after duck/deer season.

Weird morning on Saturday. The weather was about the best I had seen in years. Cool with a recent rain so the leaves were quiet. I killed 6 squirrels but every one of them was no higher than 10 feet off the ground. I did not see one squirrel feeding in the trees. I walked up on most of them, not seeing them until I was close enough to shoot. Not one of the squirrels knew I was there until they were dead.

Six shots, six squirrels. My grandfather would have said that was acceptable shooting. However, he would have got on to me for not killing 30.

I was given 6 shells and expected to bring home 8.

That's why I said "acceptable."

Identical to what I experienced in NWLA. Very odd. Even killed a couple feeding on pecans on the ground.
