I'll certainly vouch for this, too. They loved my accent for some reason. But be careful with any equipment you may be carrying on the outside of your vehicle. I flew back, but my buddies got some of their stuff stolen off their hitch carrier while they were eating in Salmon.

How the heck do you pack out an elk, or even a deer for that matter? I'm talking if you're hunting for days out of a backpack. Can you even do it alone? Not a big game hunter, no idea.

It ain't easy. Debone if necessary and cut into manageable size pieces, use odor resistant game bags. If you have to leave something for a return trip, put it in game bags and store in a tree. I've seen people build sleds for pulling over grassy terrain too.

We'll hunt ended today. Had to get off the mountain early because of weather. We were in the elk just never could get one. It was really thick up there so wouldnhave had to get one within a 100 yards. 50 most places. Saw a spike this morning but he never gave me a shot. He must of winded me when I saw him. We hunted hard. 3 to 6:30 Thursday afternoon. 6:30 to 6:30 Friday and Saturday and 6:30 to 12 today. Amazing experience hunting in the mountains. Definitely something this Louisiana boy dreamed of. Can't wait till next year to try and get one. Here are some pics I thought the OB would enjoy.

I'm certain it's disappointing that you didn't kill but I'm sure you had a blast.

Great pics!

Not disappointing so much. Of course I wanted to fill my tag but I enjoy being in the woods. Now deer hunting in La will never be the same . I didn't use a guide service just went with some guys I know who live there. The experience was absolutely worth it. Didsapointing would have been had I not saw tracks, saw any or didn't hear a bugle. I knew I was close to them so that was awesome.

One step at a time.

You can technically, but I wouldn't want to.

Congrats on the trip. Too bad you didn't ground check an elk while there, but I'll bet you had a pretty good time anyway. Pics are beautiful. I've never been out west. One day, maybe.
