Idaho is awesome. Best landlocked state in the union.

I hope you've been training, packing an elk out at 10k ft elevation is no joke. Colorado's season opens in two weeks

Out of state draw. This is my 2nd year. The first year I got picked for my third choice. This year I didn't get selected. I got a call from New Mexico F&G saying that a draw winner had prostate cancer and could not go. They asked if I wanted it. I really lucked out.

If you don't see a thing you're gonna have a blast. What a great trip.

I agree either way it will be amazing. Yesterday they saw 4 bulls and today they saw 6. Hopefully they stay around for a couple of more days.

Weather took a turn for the better, at least hunting wise, this morning. It was 31 degrees when I woke up.

Good luck! My dad and I filled our cow tags Labor Day weekend - I had to buy a freezer. My neighbor got a 330 class bull with his bow. Also 2 more bulls and a cow shot. All in September and all in the same drainage. Been a good season so far.

Nice! The guys I'm meeting tracked a 7x7. Biggest bodied elk they have ever saw, from what they said. He's miles away from the trucks so we may go after him starting tomorrow afternoon when I'm there. I'm pumped!

Where did you hunt?

I live in unit 3, about 20 miles east of Coeur D' Alene. It's super convenient because I have access to national forest with permission from any of the neighbors.

... and good folk everywhere. Been there 5 times, once for a month, and people have a rural down south feel.
