Since the government is sending me money that I’m opposed to, I’m gonna get a 1911. I don’t think they should send our tax $$$ to people that are still working. Anyway which 1911 should I buy?

Ruger 10mm. Whatever you get, get a 10mm.

As an alternative suggestion, sig P220 Legion SAO 10mm would be my "burn 1200" gun

I’ve been eyeing the new Kimber Rapide (Black Ice). Comes in 9mm, 45 acp, and 10mm. It’s a little pricy but sweet looking.

I love my smith and Wesson E. Well balanced gun. Beautiful.
My wife is also a really good shot with it.

I own a Remington R1. Not expensive, shoots good, and just nice overall. I would love to have a CRP 1911.

Kimber has finish issues - barrel and slide pitting - and their small parts have a tendency to break prematurely. The first Kimbers were OK, but today they are not worth their price, or IMO any price. Out of everything listed so far I would grab a TRP.

They are sending you your own money...just don’t be shocked when your refund isn’t as big this time next year

I went with a ruger SR1911 after watching one of Bapple's video reviews of it. He knows his stuff. It is a fantastic pistol

I rarely get a refund and if I do it’s minimal. I adjust my withholdings accordingly so that the government doesn’t hold MY money all year

Not to get too political but imagine the irony if this happens. Americans buying ARs with the 1200.00 the government is sending them to defend themselves maybe one day against that very government

Don’t get a 10mm.
You will be disappointed And will end up selling it. Then, you will have a hard time selling it.
The new Kimbers have real quality issues. If you buy one, high likelihood you will be sending it in for factory work.
Springfield’s have a good reputation. I’ve never heard anything bad about the Ruger or Remington 1911s either.
I have a pair of Sig 1911s. Really nice and very accurate. Great fit and finish. Would absolutely get another.
One other option. Find an older Kimber. I do have a kimber compact 1911 that is probably 15 years or older. Awesome gun. My daily carry. And it looks like it:). Very accurate and dependable.

Wait, what?
As a first I can see your reasoning but my Delta Elite is one of my favorites.

I’m building a 2011. Got the frame, slide and barrel in y-day. Have ordered everything else just have to wait to get it all in. Holy cow is it smooth.

I have the Springfield mil spec that's a good entry level gun. Haven't shot it too much, plan on putting a flat mainspring housing on it.

If I were to buy again I think I'd go with the Ruger Commander. I'm on my 3rd 1911 and I used to dislike the Commander versions, but they have grown on me big time.

P.S. A 1911 is supposed to lob big .45 caliber sized chunks out the barrel. If you get one, do it right.

A Delta Elite is a different animal.
It is considered a collectible and has somewhat of a cult following. Getting a 10mm in any other maker just isn’t the same.
If you really plan to hunt with it or carry it as a backup when hog hunting, a 10mm is probably a good choice.
But for any other purpose it just isn’t a good choice, unless it’s just something you want.
For home protection, a 45 or 9mm is just as, if not more practical.
Recoil wise, may not be an issue for you, but 45 and 9mm are much better.
Cost, hands down the 10mm is going to be more than both 9mm or 45.
Availability of ammo, same as cost.
Competition wise, there is no major, major division, probably isn’t your thing, just another point.
I’ve had them, like them ok. Am no stranger to handguns or recoil. But almost every person I know that has bought one, ended up selling it after a short period due to the cost, recoil, practicality, or any number of those reasons.
But, if it’s something that makes you happy, by all means, :)
