Ruger SR1911 10mm. 3 range trips, 200rds/session, no failures and is a pleasure to shoot. Accurate too if you do your part.

The only ammo I can find right now is 10mm. It is popular enough that everyone carries a decent bit, but not popular enough that when everyone goes on an ammo craze they are wiped out. Right now I can't find 9mm or 45. Amd i have the Springfield trp operator in 10mm and it is by far my favorite pistol out of the 8 I own.

Don't overlook what Wilson Combat offers. Some are along the lines of a Kimber and fit/finish is really good.

Colt Delta Elite,,,,,had one for about 5 years. Never an issue, if you know how to shoot, recoil is easily manageable, whip that thing out an er’body wants to handle it.

Kimber has finish issues - barrel and slide pitting

I was told this when I bought a number tle ii two years ago. And it's still rust free after 2 years of general neglect.

Dan Wesson. Best bang for the buck in the 1911 world without spending $2500+ for a Wilson, Baer, Ed Brown, Nighthawk..

I approve this idea, but won't be looking at 1911's with my check.

About a month ago I wandered into a LGS just to window shop. Browsed over to the used section. Even used, 1911's generally are pricey. Saw some brands I was interested in.

And then, over to one side, there were a pair of Para Experts, both complete with box, all the paperwork, even the gun locks (they both looked unfired; I swear they were just old stock the store wanted to move). Snagged them both for under $800 total.

Personally, I would buy a Colt Gold Cup National Match 70 series. Classic pistol that will never lose value

I like the rock island GI 1911. They're cheap and reliable. I like a good sloppy 1911.

I have the Springfield mil spec that's a good entry level gun.

I have a SA Mil-spec with VZ Slim Frag grips, good gun for anyone looking for a 1911. One of those and plenty of money left over for ammo, when you can find some again.
