My first thought too, but with it leaning against it instead of being attached, I assume it just pushed it out? No idea though.

That's pretty cool. I found a pair of 1920's binoculars out in the middle of nowhere in Nevada. It was neat to think that they had sat there since a rancher or hunter had dropped them back then.
Looked sort of like this, only in much worse shape.

Juniper, and out west. Probably an extremely slow growth rate. Look how small it is now.

Either way that is a really interesting story. I bet if you cleaned that thing up and put some oil it would still work. Wonder if it was still loaded?
