Stomped some briars this morning in Raceland. Jumped about 8 rabbits between all of us and not a single one died. Was hunting thick brush and them suckers are quick. Would have been much better with beagles. Still had fun and my new Nova 20 gauge is frickin smooth.

Now at the in laws frying a turkey waiting to see what Santa brought me.

Hunting a tripod on the levee
Browning .270
First hunt my dad and I have made together this season. Walked the property earlier refilling feeders and saw more scrapes and rubs than ever before, wish us luck.

I just got up here this morning so haven't really had a good look yet, but others in my lease are saying yes.

Sweet hunt today.

Doe slipped through early. An hour or so later I can hear gruntin behind me. Doe comes into plot up wind, more grunting, then small buck comes out. So I was like then I hear the gruting agian behind me so then I was like only to listen to him making a rub or a scrape or something and continue to grunt until it got too dark to see.

Around 4:45 had a big doe and yearling come out, the doe ended up 17 yards broadside to me the young one was around 7-8 yards to my right.

Never did get a buck to slip on out but it is really nice to get em in up close like that.

Your waiting for that nice buck aren't you? I would have shot one of them does you've seen.

I took my younger cousin this morning on a stalk. We grunted up a really young buck. I didn't go this afternoon

Bayou Dorcheat
Crossed the bayou on the four wheeler only to discover it was a lot higher than I thought it would be. Of course I discovered this about the time the 4 wheeler started getting sucked downstream. Kept going. Made it.

Set up a ground blind and a stand back in the boonies. Exhausted. Can't wait to hunt it. Still hunted till I got back to a spot overlooking a bottom and busted out the horns.

Went rattling crazy till dark. Froze. No deer. Heard crazy shite. A few times this year I've heard something that sounds like an ape because of the way it woops and changes the pitch. Sounds like lips. Hard to explain. I assume it's a bird I've never heard before. Also heard what sounded like something coming down a tree on it's claws while chattering like crazy.

God I love this shite.
