Didn't see this posted. I heard the interview on the radio this morning and got a good laugh out of it.

Good for that kid but why is an 11 yr old home alone.

Hey -- it's Talladega

I heard it on the radio while driving to work. The kid's explanation (including "full metal jacket"), and his tone of voice when he says "cried like a baby," is priceless.

The radio version (Fox News) this morning said he shot 11 times. (eta: I see the news clip says 12 shots.)

Not old enough IMHO. My daughter is 12 and she doesn't get to for more than 30 minutes by herself.

Good thing he's 11, I thought shooting at the guy as he runs off was frowned upon.

This reminds me, when I was in 6th or 7th grade my friend was home alone when someone broke in so he hid in the closet and called his Papaw who lived down the road. He and his wife quickly drove down the road and when he got inside the house the guy jumped off the porch into the yard and started running towards the car where his grandma was sitting. Papaw fired one shot from his .44 magnum off the porch and dropped him in his tracks. The robbers family tried to sue them saying he didn't need to kill him but the court threw it out thankfully. The funniest part was my friend said he was in the middle of fapping when the guy kicked the door in but he told the news and his parents that he was playing Guitar Hero

Yeah, spraying 12 shots out in the front yard as the guy is getting away isn't what I'd consider a clean situation at all. That and the fact that an 11 year old can so easily access your firearms when he's home alone. Both things that make me cringe as a proponent of guns. But at least the guy didn't die. So in the end, pretty funny story even if there's a lot of questionable stuff. When I heard him say "full Metal jacket", and "cry like a baby" I had to chuckle.

Well we have cops that do the same. Father probably told him to fire until empty if he's faced with an intruder.

If you make guns taboo then it will be a problem. Just need to teach a kid to respect the weapon. We had access from about that age. my cousins lived in the country and they probably had access from 8 or 9. Never a problem and never played with them.
