Personally think downhill skiing because you have a legit chance at grievous bodily harm or dying if you screw up.

10m platform diving is up there, along with downhill. Recently saw a skier knocked unconscious on the moguls when his head hit the ground after (not) landing his big air.

Skeleton laughs at luge. Skeleton is going head first.

There was a recent death - the last Olympics, I think?

Most things I’ve read say luge is more dangerous. They’re going faster and it’s apparently harder to control.

Disagree. It shouldn’t be in the Olympics. It’s just dancing on ice. I don’t think I’d be as annoyed with its presence if it wasn’t on so damned much. And I hate Johnny weir.

Gymnastics is pretty dangerous. There have been multiple gymnasts paralyzed over the years. Julissa Gomez and Elena Mukhina are two pretty famous gymnasts who were paralyzed and later died.

Luge would be my other pick. I would definitely die trying it.

This. And many more who have had similar injuries who weren't very famous. The numbers who have had to quit due to serious injury is just ridiculous.

In Canada at one of the past few olympics. I was watching that live. The sound of that poor dude's head hitting that iron pole was a huge reverberating DONGGGG. He was dead on impact.

Marathon. Only about 1% of all people in the world ever completed one.

Most difficult is some of the ski and snowboard events. Very hard to do, but not as dangerous as you think (as long as you land with your feet under you to some degree. Hitting the lip can bring some pain, but the 30% downslope on the landing prevents major injury. You are moving with that slope in the air in accordance with that landing slope, just hit with your skis first and you will be fine. There are much more dangerous events

Meh. Almost anyone can do it if they put in the training. I wouldn't say that about all these other sports. And yes, I've run a marathon. Just takes training time.

An Olympic Marathon? Competitively?

I actually had this discussion pre super bowl with a buddy. One of his cousins got fricked up wrecking in the luge in 2018. She actually came back from back and spine fractures, just to wreck again this Olympics. Emily Sweeney is her name.

I still want to try it
