You just don’t see it. In the 90s I was good for one or two a year. I bet it’s been over a decade since my last one. There used to be stories of roadside heroes pulling over in the rain to help little old ladies change a tire. Those are gone also.

I guess technology caught up with us? It’s not like the roads are any better. Did they invent a new rubber?

I’ve been driving for over a decade and never had to put on a spare tire

I’ve had a lot of nails in my tires but have always been able to drive to a tire shop and get it patched for $10

I’ve had nails in my tires and slow leaks. I’m talking about a blowout on the highway.

All the nails and screws must be by my house.

I had nearly a flat the other day, but was able to get somewhere to get it patched. I think a complete blowout would be the only need to put on a spare.

People still get blowouts too. I see blown out tire shreds on the interstate all the time.

I wish this were true. ~3 weeks ago my wife ran over a nail and then drove it until the tire got flat. Then kept on driving because "she didn't know what was wrong". Ended up driving it too long flat and the sidewall blew out so I had to buy a new tire.

I got a flat tire on the Interstate the other day, had a screw in the tire. I was able to get off the road into a parking lot, thankfully. It didn't blow out, it just went down quickly. Womp womp womp womp womp.

Then, I realized that I haven't had to change a tire on this truck in 8 years. I realized this because it requires a stupid key to drop the spare to the ground.

Later that week, I had a second flat tire, but was in my driveway... another dang screw that I didn't notice earlier.

You obviously don't work in an industrial or construction area. Just acouple weeks ago, 4 people had flats within a week.

My wife’s car doesn’t even have a spare tire…. I know one day we’ll be stuck on the side of the road for hours waiting for roadside to come.

Live anywhere new houses are being built, and you will have flat tires.

Got a flat on I-95 with the fam coming back from my moms. Back of the suv was completely loaded with luggage and Christmas gifts. I had to unload almost everything on the side of the interstate to get spare out and change it. Then had to find a tire shop 60 miles away while driving 45mph on a major interstate.

People still get flats.

Just before covid, I had a right rear blowout on 2 year old Goodyears. That was an exception. Prior to that I've only had slow leaks from nails or tiny punctures.
