I feel your pain, not looking forward to having to go through that again.

Texas rescue dog on the left and Wyoming reservation dog on the right. No idea what breed they are.

Put down many great friends. Never gets easier. I have told many vets to give me a minute with my best friend before it happened. Never walked away without red eyes.

I have done this 3 times and when they take their last breath with you there it's as if they are at peace free of the pain. I sit there with them for at least 5 mins with memories flashing and crying like a baby. Probably all 3 times is probably the most i have cried in my entire life. Not ashamed to say it.

Sorry about your dog bud. My nephew stepped on my 4 month old doxiepoo yesterday. She limped the evening away and it was disturbing. Got her to the vet this morning and thankfully there’s no break.

“Dogs’ lives are short, too short, but you know that going in. You know the pain is coming, you’re going to lose a dog, and there’s going to be great anguish, so you live fully in the moment with her, never fail to share her joy or delight in her innocence, because you can’t support the illusion that a dog can be your lifelong companion.
There’s such beauty in the hard honesty of that, in accepting and giving love while always aware that it comes with an unbearable price.” – Dean Koontz

Very sorry for your loss

Had to put 2 labs (sisters that were 15 years old) down this year, and had another lab that was in poor health wander off and never come back. I’m convinced the ole boy knew he was saving me some heartache. Thoughts and prayers for you, brother.

We had a 12 year old lab we were taking hunting one last time and he died on the way to the duck blind. I'm convinced that's how he wanted it.
