Nah. First in line will be secured creditors (banks etc). Usually in a liquidation the bank doesn't even get all theirs so this lady is probably screwed.

The stores are still in operation, so I don't understand why she can't have her order fufilled.

If she has to become a creditor, my guess is she won't see the rest of that money. What a disaster.

Is that true though? My dad worked for a company that went bankrupt and his pension was insured by the govt through some program. I don't recall the name however.

There was a Home Warranty company based in New Orleans that owed me money. I went there to try and collect and there were several people signing up. I waited till they left and was told they would pay me and to come back at 8:00 am. There was a sign on the door said "Out of business" shortly before 8 am the next morning. The owner is now a preacher at his own church.

I hope that is true. I don't think contracts for service (home warranties) are covered with that.

Use a credit card so you can charge it back if it's never delivered.

A$E factory services will close soon. That will shake the industry up because they didn the lion's share of cheap warranty work. Most companies didn't have the numbers to make it profitable. You may see a shift in home warranty prices. I'm honestly hoping to snag a top tech and an up and comer when they fold. I had this discussion recently with fellow owner operators.

Working on Kenmore will be harder because they set it up so only Sears can get access to the factory manuals. Other techs have to find out who made it, then go from there doing a reverse look up that isn't always correct.

This will be huge. A lot of people depend on Sears.

I ordered a stove and dishwasher from those clowns when I needed them for my new house. Took forever so I finally cancelled the order. They refunded my credit card and sent me a check, so basically a double refund

I would imagine the manager of the store or the sales rep.

You would imagine incorrectly, then. These are not employees who are notified in advance of a bankruptcy filing.

I'm sure she paid via credit card and should be able to get the charges dropped.

I had ordered a car part from a company in Cali a long time ago for maybe $300. Company went bankrupt and I didn't receive the part, but was charged on my credit card. Called the CC company and the charges were taken off without question.
