This. I drove a lot of atvs and vehicles at a young age but that's the scenario I was raised in. I started on 220 3 wheelers and 300cc 4 wheelers.

Your parents either didn't listen when you asked them not to let your daughter drive it alone or you didn't make that point clear to them. Thankfully your child is ok. I have a 7 year old myself and I can't imagine letting her on a razor alone, but, since she was 3 or 4 I have always let hey in my lap to drive my truck around the pasture or dirt roads.

Teach them young, and they'll be ready when they're 16.

Just be thankful she is ok, use this opportunity to teach, not discipline.

I have a daughter, but I would never let her drive until she's about 14 or 15. You know, the age they get their permit?

Letting her drive anything at 9 is ridiculous. But I'm not a redneck so I guess it's different.

i am not a body guy but that is gonna run a whole lot more than 2k.

anytime you damage the hood or liftgate it is costly. you cant bang that out and get a tight seal. it will need to be replaced and the labor to remove all the internals and panels will cost a ton. then the paint blending on both sides will take several layers and a wider frame to cover up the damage.

i am guessing more like $4500.00

glad your little girl is ok.

Yes if my kid accidentally puts a baseball through a window I'd expect him to help pay for it. Even I were pitching and didn't think about the fact that he was facing the neighbors house.

In reality, he'd never really pay for it. But the lesson (in this case) is that an ATV isn't a play toy and there are ramifications for our actions even if the events were beyond our control.

Feel free to think differently. It won't bother me.

You sound like someone that doesn't have children. The OT has blurred your thinking to believe that questions have black and white answers. They don't. Come back when you can vote.

Actually moron.

I'm 51. I have 3 kids.

And I never let a single one of them get behind the wheel at fricking 9 years old.

Then again, I'm a responsible parent.

You can't stand her doing it???

Don't let her. You're her parent...not her buddy.

My son just turned 8 and I let him tear arse on my 4 wheeler by himself. It's dangerous, but he loves it. Bunch of pussies in here.

So, in your mind, the first time they should drive is at 15? A child should never back up their parents car, drive in a parents lap in a controlled situation, or drive a 50cc four wheeler (which is specifically designed for younger children)?

If I'm a redneck, you are a liberal pussy.

This. The wreck wasn't the kids fault, that's on your parents for not properly supervising. You're liable for damages. Live and learn.

Why is your mom getting off Scott free? She should have been driving in the first place, or should have been very mindful of everything your daughter was doing while driving.

Exactly. Many in here are redirecting my anger at my daughter instead of my mom. She was the adult in charge that caused and let this entire accident happen.

Well, get her in here and we'll let her know what's up.

Make sure your mom knows how to supervise her with your guns and welding torch out there in the shed, Cletis. Plenty of trouble for a 9 year old to get into when you're not around.

No.

You're the adult in charge that let this happen.

People like you are the reason that kids run rampant in our society because you don't fricking actually pay attention to what they are doing.

Unfrickingbelievable that you think it's not only perfectly okay that your fricking 9 year-old is behind the wheel but that you don't think you have any control over the situation.

You serious Clark?

He was at work. Not at the scene of the incident

Most kids used to drive go carts around that age. No big deal. Not sure when this became such a huge issue.

Nope, nope, nope, nope, nope. Don't believe it. I think you spent an hour scribbling a response together on your 10th grade world history notebook.

Man, it sucks, but things could be worse. Take your kids out tmw and give a good lesson on the gear selector and driving. Tell your mother to pay better attention.

It's only money, in the grand scheme of things it's not that serious.
