I have no idea what they make a year, but would you be a police officer there for a career if you made 60k? 101 people were shot in July 4 in Chicago. How much would it take for you to move there and tackle the job for a career?

That depends. $60k with benefits to go there, not give a shite about the citizens and do the very minimum? Sure. To take the job serious and try to actually make arrests? frick no.

If I was in law enforcement I would.

ETA: its better than the $30k a lot of them make.

After 18 months, they make 69k. Buddy who works as a hedge fund consultant is quitting to become a Chicago police officer

Dang. In little rock they start at 50k.

That is surprising. especially considering cost of living in Chicago.

The benefits are great for Chicago city employees, but the thing about that is the city is dead broke and the pensioners are almost for sure going to end up getting burned once it's all said and done.
