For 36 hours total, but get paid for 40? Then you have Monday through Friday day off. My sister is being offered this at a hospital in Houston in the ER. Strange as hell but obviously a lot of days off.

3 day work week and a free 4 hours worth of pay? Hell yeah.

I used to have a lot of days off during the week and I quickly realized that if everyone else is at work it gets boring quick

I'd take it in a nanosecond (unless the pay sucked). You can chill all week, take care of your errands, etc.

I work 4 12s now. I'd love a day off. Sure.

I did it for about 8 months as a nurse at nights and couldn't take it much longer. I felt like I was in social isolation. Wife , kids and most of our friends are M-F and i couldn't go to game parties, crawfish boils, lake etc when everyone was going. I had to head to bed. It was also difficult switching back to a day schedule on Mondays til Friday.

I worked with many nurses who loved it though. It just wasn't for me.

I think a lot of people are underestimating working EVERY weekend night. Sleeping during the day, and working at night. There would have to be one hell of a shift premium for me to take that.

frick no

That's a typical nurse schedule - 3 12s. But she's getting fricked having to work every weekend

I did that for 10 years, but only got paid for 40 for the first 9 months or so. Hospital cutbacks wouldn't allow the 36 for 40. I would not do that again.

Not really. My wife does it and makes $9 an hour more in differential for nights and weekends.

Exactly! and that extra 4 hours pay is worth what, 150 bucks? Here You make $100 an hour to work weekends only (on days)... I am not giving up football saturdays for a penny less than that.

Not worth it unless you really need the money

Do you have kids? If they're in school that's the time when you can spend time with them, go and do fun things as a family

I treasure my 8-5 m-f job

I have not seen that in over 15 years. I don't know how i would handle that.

God yes.

-Tape Gameday and all College and NFL games. Cut off phone or don't bring it to work. You've got all week to get caught up.
-You'd save a shite ton of money because no social pressures to go out or have drinks.
-Catch movies, museums, shop, garden, work in the shop, etc...you'd have all of this free time to do this stuff without the crowds or annoyances because the majority of Americans work an 8-5/M-F.

I changed to a M-F job with call after I had my daughter for the same reason...but I still miss the 3-12s even though I do 4-10s. I like those of days.

I work 3 12s a week at the hospital....but not every weekend. I have to work 3-4 weekend shifts a schedule(Friday, sat, or Sunday night). Can space/split them out however I want...,just have to do 3-4 per 4 week schedule. Some hospitals make you work every other weekend(fri, sat, sun) night....now that sucks

But many hospitals offer a Baylor program where you only work weekends.

But only getting paid for 40 hours work? Hell no. Most weekend only programs pay a lot more than that.

When I have a kid I will likely work a lot of weekends at first during baby stage so we don't have to pay for daycare. (Husband is a 9-5r)
