I wish this was legal...but I can see the downside being you would have bullets flying everywhere without caution. How many would shoot in their backyard for fun and then say they saw a drone?

Woman threatens to shoot down spying drone.

I live out of town with some acerage, so, yes, if I determined it was too close, too frequent and being used in a nefarious manner.

If someone ever shot down my shite I would be pissed.

I also wouldn't fly it into someone's backyard either. That's stupid.

Shoot a drone and save your privacy.

Hell yes. My backyard is for fully nude calisthenics and illegal rake fighting.

The only way you're getting into my backyard is if you know the password.

If someone had a drone flying low over my backyard with the camera aiming at the windows, I'd do my best to knock it out of the sky.

A shotgun would be a pretty effective method.

If there was a low flying drone on my property I'd definitely throw something at it. Wouldn't shoot it in city limits though, bullets eventually come down.

ETA:

Shotgun would work I guess

I would also imagine recklessly flying a drone over someone else's property without permission isnt exactly within FAA regulations or federal law.

Document the drone and the pilot over your property and report them to the FAA. They don't play in my experience.

Like any other crime hypothetical, would I get caught?

Absolutely, one of the people who lives about 2 miles away from me kept flying his drone over our house which was no big deal. Then, he started getting lower in our yards. One day, he was hovering over my house looking at my next door neighbor's daughter and her friend playing. I took a pot shot at it, and called the cops.

It turns out that sick fricker was a released pedo. He's back in jail now.

I know a guy whose was flying his drone (a very expensive model) for a parade a couple of weeks ago and a lady pelted it with beads causing it to crash with significant damage.

He got the video footage and identified the woman and had to threaten to contact the FAA to get her to pay for a new one.

I'll have to ask if she ever forked over the money.

I'm installing an Israeli Iron Dome around my house to prevent drones from encroaching on my property.

I have several toy class drones and one hobby class. The range is not very impressive so I'd almost have to be standing in your front yard to fly one over your back yard.

Would you shoot me for standing in your front yard while flying my drone over your back yard? What about shooting my drone and then me?

Eta... Im a relatively clean cut white guy.

I had one fly over my deer camp a couple months ago. I was tempted to shoot it, but It's near Camp Shelby and those boys may not play nicely with drone shooters.

I don't blame the woman if the drone was intentionally spying on her. One thing for drone to just be passing over your property if flying to a different target location...another thing to be hovering for extended amount of time basically spying on you.

But I don't think we should have people shooting at drones...especially in a populated area. Besides the obvious disruption of peace from gunshots in a neighborhood, falling bullets can kill someone or puncture roofs.
