The difference is that he or his wife probably signed something agreeing to this charge when she first became a patient, and the doctor's office could potentially send it to collections if unpaid.

That would be easy to dispute and have removed

The change of doctor is why I wouldn't pay it, it's almost like they ambushed her with that.

Charging for a missed visit is pretty absurd if she was told the wrong time but as someone pointed out earlier patients lie all the time.

To me it isn't worth charging no shows. First of all because some insurers (Medicare especially) forbid it and you can get in major trouble for doing it. Second, it isn't worth it to try and bill and collect it.

If I could fit it in my schedule, I would go to a psrink. There is nothing wrong with that.

I don't there is either, just making a joke since they are the only ones who try to make you pay, and understandably so, for missed appointments as they can't stack a shitload of patients and bill insurance. When you stand up a shrink you take away that time as he can only see one at a time and for longer than two minutes. So yeah he should pay

Wait, this makes no sense.

Wasn't your wife given a time when she originally booked the appointment?

I support the practice but in your wife's case, they should have used some common sense.

If it was the policy of the practice I used, yes.

Wife arrived at her doctor's appointment. Unfortunately, the person that reminded my wife of her appointment provided her with the wrong time. She ended up being 1 hour late based upon the information that was provided to her. Receptionist said they could fit her in, but not until a couple of hours later, which did not work for her schedule.

In this situation, no. I would not pay this charge. They should and will waive it off.

I wouldn't pay. Hell, even my dentist has a system that emails you the day and time a couple days in advance, and makes you click a "confirm" button to confirm it. They also print out a small dollar bill sized piece of paper with the date and time on it

My dentist is across the street from house. Literally. I don't show, they know where to find me.

Maybe your wife is in the wrong and misunderstood the receptionist about the time?

I would call the office and explain 1) the appt time confusion, 2) she actually showed, just a little late, and 3) that points 1&2 were moot as Dr she needed to see wasn't there.

I'm big on principle, too. If they don't remove the charge after that, tell them to get fricked.

This is my biggest issue.

I'm not going to a carwash, I'm going to a (my) doctor.
