Justins.
Seriously, I visit yards from Houston to Mobile and most people on their feet a lot requiring steel toe end up with these. It's all I wear on site for the past 8 years. They run about 100-150 per pair and come in dozens of styles.

ETA: Wolverines aren't bad either.

Justin's have very soft soles and wear out almost instantly.

I work in the nuclear industry. Safety toe work boots are a requirement, but we also have to pass thru a metal detector everytime we enter the plant. The majority of the people I know wear Red Wing composite shoes. The composite is not steel, but it meets the same ANSI standards as the steel toe. They are so comfortable, I wear them around the house, and basically everywhere I go. I pay about $200 for a pair of lace up, nine inch high, water proof work boots. Light weight, and the lack of steel makes the shoe a comfortable boot during outside winter work. Only downside: made in China, but the shoes are extremely comfortable and durable. I know because I have been wearing this style daily since 2011.

You can get American made composite toe red wings but they're significantly more expensive (and significantly better) than the China ones.

Composite toes are fantastic.

The most comfortable work boot ever made. It's like walking on clouds.

Yeah, comfort's important. I'm not going to be "working" in these shoes, so to speak. But they're a requirement.

Timberland Pro is one of the lighter boots out there and they are VERY comfortable. There may be a few that hold up better but I don't think you will find many more comfortable.

That's what I've been reading. I'm guessing I can get these at academy or a similar store.

Get some Servu or Honeywell rubber boots for the job site and some Worx (made by Redwing) for the truck and office. I have the ankle boots and they are really comfortable.

Chippewa is made in the US and a great alternative to Red Wing. Very comfortable with Vibram soles and waxed laces. I get mine from Amazon - true to size. Chippewa Boots

I like those Docs, they just don't feet my feet very well.

No one has suggested Keens yet, and that is what I wear. They make waterproof boots. They're very comfortable and they have a pair that is similar to those Docs.

If your future boss recommended them, why would you consider anything else?
You will literally start off on the wrong foot.
