So my son and I went to grab some breakfast at IHOP this morning while running errands. As I walked up to pay, a police officer was placing an order with the cashier. An older couple who was in front of me told the cashier that whatever he ordered to put on their bill. It was great to see.

I have had more people buy my lunch post-Ferguson than the rest of my career combined. Stopped into a sub shop today and two different people came up to me and thanked me. That has occurred a ton since Ferguson, also.

That's nice. This morning I was asked by the cashier at Benny's on Perkins why I went to her register and not her black coworker's and continued to insinuate that I was racist because of it. Forget the fact that he was busy with something else. Good fn morning to you too.

Sorry, Rant over. Enjoy your thread.

Yea I'm sure that actually happened.

What sucks, and I want to ask if it's happened already, is that eventually somebody will say something about free benefits.

Hope it never happens, but eventually it may.

Here in Houston it was the Harris Co. Deputy getting killed that changed a lot of attitudes. Money and donations poured into the station where he was killed.

Then it goes away. Then it comes back.

We should give donations at DUI checkpoints also.

Good deal. We need to show support of their duty.

But I still have a little distase for some. What about the dirty cops who plant evidence and put drugs back on the street? These guys are heroes but in small towns like mine most of them are dirty hypocrites.

Crazy how this board was anti-cop just 2 months ago.

I do not drink so no dog in the fight. The problem with checkpoints is that it's unconstitutional.

Why is this hard to believe?

A lot of ppl here have probably witnessed something similar. Too many reports of it for it not to be based on some truth.

Quit shooting ninjas, tho. That's whack.

I almost got shot once in a stop. I was compliant, until he said "get out of the truck," and I replied "I'll get out as soon as I'm under arrest, am I under arrest?" He opened my door yanked me out and threw me to the ground. If the backup officer had not known me, I'd be Dead. He told the arresting officer to "stop." I was unarmed.

Cops have it good. I could care less for whomever was an a-hole to me that night. He can eat his own arse after Taco bell.

For attention. It's ok. You'll get away with it plenty more times here than not.

And the cop who got the free breakfast will probably happily participate in one.

Just for your edification, the cop has every right to ask you to step out of the vehicle for no reason whatsoever.

See Pennsylvania vs Mimms.
