I won $100 three times in year 106.

2121 is going to be a lucrative year for me.

I'm down $57k after playing 300 years. I never play the lottery on my own. When my office plays together, I chip in. I look at it as insurance...I don't want to work here alone if they hit.

That's silly. Of all the lottery games, the Powerball is buying a dream - a voluntary tax. For the losers, the return won't be this infinitesimal return on a massive expense, it will be 0% return. For the winners, it won't be 1 win after so many millions of tries - it will be the wildest stroke of luck (and, for most of them, it will not work out nearly as well as they planned).

Just my $0.02 - which I cannot spare because we're playing the Powerball until somebody hits.

I'll play this time around. It's my only chance to ever own something like this.

I know one thing for sure; if we win, we'll move to east Texas where we can blend in with people that'd make us look like paupers. That way when I buy my Lambo/Porsche/Jag collection, no one will notice. And that's the way I want it.

Suddenly playing the lottery doesn't seem so fun.

I set two windows on my second monitor and let them run most of the day.

On one, I picked my own numbers and played them for every single ticket. On the other, I did the default quick pick, different every ticket.

Seems like my odds should be the same whether I use the same numbers or different ones every time, but I was never really good at statistics.

After over 16 millennia, the constant numbers yielded more winnings.

Self-picked, constant

Quick pick each ticket

I don't think 1% as many games as there are odds of winning the jackpot is an adequate sample size for that kind of test.

What I don't understand is why people go nuts when the pot gets big. Is 200M not enough?

This always makes me laugh

"Hey man, you gonna buy a lotto ticket?"

"How much is it?"

"Up to $90 million"

"Nah dude, that's low"

I left mine running overnight, but in year 760 I won my first 10k. I think I had won 100 9 times. There is an office mutiny to exclude me from the wednesday ticket now.
