The Son of the Dragom

It's getting ridiculous now. I'd rather another writer step in at this point

These pointless stories set in the same universe. I think he's hit a writers block and won't admit it

Dude has been writing his entire life and has written one of the most popular series of all time. You and the other twats complaining about how fast he writes should calm the frick down. He's a professional. He knows what he's doing. I'd rather him wait and take his time writing something good than produce something shitty just to please impatient fans.

Pretty sure this was something that he had already written for World of Ice and Fire and had to cut it but wanted to release the story so he's doing it here

Nope. I agree that he has writer's block or he's just over it since HBO is ahead of him.

Probably. I'm just sick of everyone bitching about it. Let the dude write. He'll finish it when he does

26 years is a long time with 2 more books to go

He should have left it a trilogy. That's where he lost his way IMO.

Well he could die like Robert Jordan as German suggests. And then not finish when he finishes.

I've waxed and waned over whether or not I actually expect him to finish them. I think TWOW is substantially done, but he's going to tweak, edit and perfect every chapter before he lets it go. That is part of what slows him down - his other interests are a big part of it, as is writer's block (all but conceded by now), but as he evolved - I mean you can see it from GOT to the last two - he's just a much older, more methodical writer. And, this meticulousness is not making the finished product any better, IMHO, although he may think it is more polished and thorough.

WOT just rambles on and on with so little development. Does not compare to ASOIAF

I could not agree more. I also wonder when the GoT finale airs if he'll feel less compelled to finish. IIRC they will have the same ending but different storylines leading up to it.

On another note I really enjoyed his Dunk and Egg novellas and I hope the rumors of HBO picking them up for a spin off are true.
