Famine can generally be blamed on politics

Geopolitics doesn't make it easy but I've always gotten a kick out of the fact

that we grow a ton of crops here for the sole purpose of burning them in our automobiles.

This x 1000.

We could cut world hunger by as much as 50% if we stopped wasting food that way, but the ethanol industry is now an entrenched special interest with billions of dollars at stake.

Governments starve and steal from their people. Hell we have sent hundreds of billions to starved African countries for over a decade and they are no better off

Because we are our own country. We shouldn't be worried about others except for who we export to and import from

yet we still see mass starvation

i mean "mass" is relative. there isn't that much starvation, and there is less starvation today than ever before in human history

and if you want to know why, i'd imagine "authoritarian regimes stealing the food" covers just about every area with starvation

Warlords horde it and prevent it from getting to the people. They maintain power this way. That's one big reason. We can't fix everything, everywhere. That's why we should focus domestically and we should emphasize how lucky we are to live here. Our poor would be considered wealthy in many parts of the world. Our poorest poor are only in their situation by choice or mental illness.

Starvation in the modern world is a result of only one thing - politics. Usually the leaders who control that population are using starvation as a weapon.

No we couldn't. Despite our best intentions, the shite heads running these places won't let it happen. And pussified "activists" here definitely don't want us to use force to save lives. Not that it would help in the long run anyway.

When did your "kick" start? We were producing well over what we can use long before we started screwing up our gasoline with that ethanol crap.

The first production units for ethanol for fuel purposes was during the Carter admin. to the best of my knowledge. Most of those were gov't subsidized and most of them were shutdown due to a drop in oil prices and more available oil. The facilities that are online now are somewhat new.

It's probably for the best that people who can't figure out a way to feed themselves find their way out of the gene pool.
