The trick is to not let plaque remain in the same area for any length of time

The bacteria will never have the chance to use your own mineral against you

Calculus in not difficult if you show up to class, work the problems, and not get behind on the concepts. Very similar to General Chemistry. Stay on course each day.

Speaking of, it's been a while since we've had a good PEMDAS thread.

Calculus was surprisingly easy for me. But begrudgingly I’ll admit I struggled with differential equations

It's a shortcut like many; yet outdated. If you think outside of the box, it can be useless and inconceivable. For instance, a computer using binary code can't conceive what calculus is, and the programmer doesn't have to have any knowledge of calculus to format an easy to use program such as a Spreadsheet.

I would say a big reason is because it is entirely theoretical.

It was made up by Newton to explain concepts he had that couldn't be explained by Algebra.

It's a made up math. Completely theoretical in practice.

That's why seemingly intelligent people can have a hard time grasping it.

Hell, my dad went to medical school in the mid-70's at LSU and he never took calculus. It just wasn't required. It applies to engineering in a way, but not to many other fields.

Is it the concepts themselves? Are limits, derivatives and integrals inherently challenging? Is it difficult because of gaps in precursor knowledge like exponents and logarithms?

Simple math is the only thing I’ve needed to get me to this point in my life. All that other bullshite is just bullshite. 2 pounds of fries equals 2 minutes in the grease.

frick that icecream machine you’d have to know calculus to get that pos to work.

I wonder what school they were trying to get into. My wife admittedly didn't go to Hopkins (but it was a T-10) but all she took was single variable calc and statistical methods in undergrad.

In the mid 70's no. Of course. My daughter's studying chemical engineering, and she's studying what your father did, and more. Before you freak out, the MDs we know say the same.

Passed all the same but it wasn’t simple.

Y’all some dang liars up in here.

Was quite happy to get past that class

I thought it was conceptually dumb.
I have no idea why it was required for a premed major.
I made a 95 or so in the class just like in most classes in college.

Unfortunately, none of the girls were impressed with grades. Trying to get a date (pre cell phones) in college was not that easy.

Strangely, once I started medical school - I became much better looking. So good looking that ladies would come up to me in the hospital and start telling me about their daughters and granddaughters.

Bunch of shallow women. It felt good to have sex with all of them.

The grandmothers that is. They deserved it for raising gold digger daughters and granddaughters.

Wait, what class were we talking about again?

Same here ! Calculus was great. Differential equations was like learning Chinese. Can’t figure out why I struggled ? The professor and the textbook didn’t help. For most of the semester I couldn’t figure out the purpose of DE or what real life usefulness it represented.
