Why does the OT think Cruises are Trashy?

I was on a Carnival cruise this summer was pretty nice. Didn't notice anything trashy.

The cruise lines that serve New Orleans are pretty crappy....
...but I can understand not wanting to spend money to sit on a crowded boat with a bunch of strangers.

Crystal Cruises is putting a ship in New Orleans during the holidays in 2016.
I would recommend checking them out. Crystal is a top 3 cruise line.

I did a 7 day Carnival cruise. It's entertaining.
If you expecting to not be blown away, you are fine. There is a definite trashy element. Cool way to preview destinations. If you realize you love Jamaica while on a cruise, you don't take a cruise back to Jamaica. You take a trip.
Carnival is a younger crowd though as well? I've only done the one cruise. What cruise line blends quality with somewhat younger crowd. Somewhere between Spring Break trash crowd and retirees?
