Why does a state at the bottom of the education rankings with only 4.6 million people have like 15 public universities? Two public law schools in one city (4 total with Tulane and that other school in NOLA), two public med schools, a shite ton of community colleges. Not to mention all the private universities the state must be subsidizing. It has to be bleeding the state dry.

Seems to me to be a scheme to give jobs to school administrators and liberal professor propagandists

Need to close a lot of those schools and consolidate and make college admissions really competitive.

It’s true

I’d start with closing USL

Politics. Each university is a jobs program where politicians stash friends and family with kushy jobs. All the universities then protect each other from one of them getting closed.

I guess it was time for a new thread on this. But yeah, it seems like a few schools could be consolidated.

I mean, there’s three university systems in just one small state. Holy shite. LSU, ULL, and Southern systems.

Southern should just be closed down and about half the ULL schools should probably be closed.

Pretty much only keep LSU, UNO, and LA Tech, that way you got a presence on each side of the state. Close the rest.

If you think Louisiana (#forty-something) is bad, you’d better not peek towards the East.

The Land Mass (securely at #5-0) absolutely is the worst at frittering away it’s meager resources amongst way too many institutions.

I thought they were doing this 20 years ago. One school for engineering, One school for education, one for nursing, etc. what happened to that?

1. Close Southern and Grambling. Let there be blood.

2. Scale back Nichols and SELU to JUCOs

3. Merge ULM with Tech and LSUS w/NWSU

4. Rename the Univ of LA the Univ of Acadiana

That's a start

ULL is not even ranked in the USNWR. Embarrassing. Even LA Tech ranked higher.

Louisiana would probably be better served with more diesel driving academies and less universities.
