Why does America not add taxes on listed prices?

99 percent of countries have taxes added on a price tag. If the bread says $3.50 then that what it is. America is one of the few counties who doesn't add tac till you are checking out. Why is this?

B/c everybody knows you want to be in the 1%.

Also, my El Salvador friends would be pissed at me. I mean the United States of America.

Sales tax is federal and local...each county has a different rate.

If they want to stop us from using the title of "America" then they are going to have to fight us.

But they could easily do it in every store in every city.

This doesn't stop a company from putting that local and fed rate onto the price tag when sold at retail, since they quite literally calculate it within a millisecond of the scanner scanning the product.

the stores want to trick you into thinking something is cheaper than it really is

I assumed he was talking about the advertised price

Well I'm thinking because different parishes have different tax rates so they would have to print different tags for stores in different parishes. Probably a big pain in the arse if you have a bunch of stores

No, I meant tag price. That's why I said tag price. Ha

exactly...I thought it was pretty obvious that the idea is to make you buy more by giving the perception that something costs less than it does.

I just read titles and comment if the post is more than 10 words.

Spankum that was my guess, however it's not a secret so I don't see how it would work unless someone is a ra-tard.

Taxes vary wildly by location, and it tricks people into thinking that things cost less than they really do.

Same reason they price something $9.99 rather than $10.
