The one that drives me crazy is La Place pronounced La Plas instead of Lä Pläs

What about Houston St. in NYC? Pronounced Howston

My Tahoe's gps says it like this and I want to run his Yankee arse off the road every time he says it, which is often as I live in Houston.

The only to say new Orleans with out annoying me

New Or-lins
New aw-lins
New or-lee-ens (only because I've heard it so much from locals over the years, although it's still slightly eye roll worthy)

And I say nola sometimes, so deal with it if it bothers you. I certainly type it 99% of the time.

Same reason people say Cali, Hot Lanta, Chi-town, "new yalk" (however you'd spell that accent)

Simply put, stereotypes

Or you could consider n'awlins a nickname.

Which I do.

I consider it something someone from out of town would say.
