I got a late start at being a real person because I went to school for an extra 3 years, and I have no rush to get married.

I figure I'm at least 5-7 years away.

I have children and I don't want them to grow up in a broken home.

As a single male in his mid 30s that was married most of his 20s...I'd perfer the stability of a married life. Sure, it's fun to play golf, fish, drink, or do whatever you want when you want while occasionally getting some strange. It gets pretty monotonous and boring tho the older you get esp when you start doing all the fun stuff alone because all your friends are tied up with their lives. Also the older you get the more crazy and insane single women get so if personally would rather have someone decent to be around on the reg than prowl the 30-40 year old chicks that can't find a man.

This. And when you post on a male dominated site....you will see more men bitching about women.

Why do men marry?

We think marriage will change us. And unfortunately, it does.

Some men fall for the Disney version of love just like women. Some men get socially pressured into it. Some men get tricked by a conniving bitch.

I was never in trouble with women, in relation to marriage, until I met my future wife. I knew somewhat quickly that I was in trouble but did not hesitate to get married. I can not put my finger on the one thing.....just knew.

We had a damn good run....still love and care about her. But people change. If the right lady comes around I would probably get married again.

I went through so much pain and heartache in my marriage that I don't know if I would or not.

I don't understand why women give these ultimatums to men "if we don't get married soon I'm leaving"

it's like oh ok you don't enjoy being around me you just want a ring?

No, it's usually not that. If the woman is in her late 20s and she wants kids she realizes she can't sit around and wait forever. Biologically she has less years to pursue being a mother than a man can pursue being a father.

I actually had this conversation with a female friend who is contemplating the power "whats the next step" move on her bf. I gave her my 2 cents, and that she risks pushing him away by doing this...theyve only been dating like 7 months.

I married because i love her. She truely is my best friend. I could not see myself without her. We have fun together, and compliment each other well. Of course there are times i get aggervated, and want to scream. But thats life and we work through it. I have to admit.. ive lived a pretty good life, grew up fortunate to do alot of fun things, ive been places i wanted to go and done things i wanted to do... but in all honesty, i find the best spent times are those late evenings wih the wife sittung outside under the oak tree talking about our day. Marriage isnt always easy, but its worth it. Anyone who says any different, just isnt with the right person.
