I think Kanye sums it up pretty good:

I don't know what it is with females
But I'm not too good with that shite.
See, I could have me a good girl
And still be addicted to them hoodrats
And I just blame everything on you
At least you know that's what I'm good at

I don't understand why women give these ultimatums to men "if we don't get married soon I'm leaving"

it's like oh ok you don't enjoy being around me you just want a ring?
You don't see how it could possibly be bad news for a relationship if two people are on different timetables?

Exactly.

The negative connotations attached to reasonable ultimatums are stupid. It would be really immature to be with someone who will never marry you if you believe in marriage. Same for people who want kids vs. people who don't.

You don't fall in love because it's convenient.

And you don't stay in a relationship with someone who wants totally different things than you just because you "fell in love"

Well, the converse of that is if you're so in love with the person, what's so hard about committing yourself to them?

Why should the girl wait around for years of her prime while some slapdick can't decide whether to shite or get off the pot?

I'm not a fan of ultimatums at all. But I understand why a woman feels like she has to resort to them.

Usually women that haven't learned how to effectively communicate with their man.

I never gave my husband ultimatums when we were dating. After 2 years of dating I just straight up asked him "look, I'm not saying we have to get married tomorrow...but I need to know that we are on the same page about marriage". At that point he told me he wasn't ready to get married just yet, but he did want to work towards that with me by his side. I appreciated his honesty and it let me know where he stood at the time.
