no but seriously CRev, the rental market is high. compare it to other cities and bitch all you want, but if you're going apples to apples, you'd have to compare it to a city that is both a college town and one that has a temporary bubble in its rental market due to, i dunno, widespread biblical flooding.

Think veiled want to come home turns into a rant. Up to you and people like you if you want to stay or come back and make it better or let it go as it is.

It's home, home sucks and is great every where.

I have no idea why people keep calling me this name. I have no idea what CRev is or what it does. Someone banned me 6 months ago accusing me being an alter. I sat around and waited to be unbanned. Here I am.

Oh so it's still the flooding causing these issues. Guess it's the new Katrina.

Not saying that's a bad thing, btw.

Gentrification would be the best thing to ever happen to this city.

But you have a large group of people, including the mayor and members of the council, that will fight it tooth and nail.

The irony is that they constantly clamor for investments into these neighborhoods but will protest and bitch when the obvious positive ramifications of gentrification come with increased investments.

given all the horrible shite you say plagues Louisiana, why would you want to move back here?

Oh and I agree with your criticism. But I'm already here, so I can bitch. You aren't so you can't.

My buddy makes a decent living logging but you need about $800,000 to get started.

I thought the best point was about Tort Reform, but nobody in this state knows what it is so you pretty much will never get it.

Louisiana would be a lot better off. But ambulance chasers and slip/fall attorneys would have to go back to their backup practice, defending criminals.

Yea, i love louisiana, i hate louisiana. I'm about to move away again. But I wouldnt be surprised if i come back again.

There's something to be said for recognizing that something you love is fricked up and working to try to make it better. If you sit back and say "wtf louisiana is a shithole, im gonna gtfo!" youre not being part of the solution.

GF is pressuring me to relocate back closer to her family. It's not particularly something I want to do. I started looking here and there just isn't anything available in my field that pays here. Sure, I could go back home and make 90-100K but that doesn't really make my investment of time, etc. the past five years worth it. I made that when I left.

I like you OP, you're an OLD Millennial like me. But I didn't like reading that long OP of you running down my state. Yes it is shitty and yes the wife and I have a pact that if any future flood/tornado/hurricane/fire WATEVER destroys our home again we will move out of state..But it is home and I cannot tell if you are from here or not. Can you clarify that? Where you born and raised in south la ? You made jokes about the things that our culture embraces and holds most sacred.

We are an industrial people that are blue collar at our roots. We are mostly all grandsons of poor rural farmers that had addresses of "FARM DISTRICT 6" These are not excuses, but just realities .

Making 100k - 150k alone in salary is plenty good enough in the baton rouge area I live in to have a perfectly good middle to upper middle class life style. Is that not where you are at in DC? OR is it that you are making 500k in dc living an upper class life as an early 30 something ? if so to you but you probably shouldn't come down here, it isn't for you. Move to another blue city where everyone in it is better than "those dumb rednecks"

Op understands nothing about law. His ignorance of tort reform clearly shows he has his head up his arse. Tort reform in 1996 was to severe and needs to be rolled back.

Well you've stated that you are a welfare recipient on your profile, so how are you wealthy again?

correct again. Most people here have no clue what tort reform is. you have to speak in the vernacular- "goddamn lawyers, brah".
Those who do know what the term means are probably in the profession.

You're spot on with the roads comment. If people here actually appreciated who shitty the infrastructure is, they'd be at the Capitol with pitch forks and torches rioting over a proposed gas tax hike.
But they aren't. Sadly, their attention span and awareness goes into hibernation after football/hunting season. And even then its limited.
