Just because you don't get it doesn't make it weird. You say people don't think fishing is weird and disney for just adults is and that is an opinion I think is wrong. Even if that was true and people thunk like you that Disney was built for kids are we suppose to cater to the ignorance of others just to try to seem normal? If people are to stupid to see that Disney has a ton on adult entertainment ( if you think Disney is just for kids and doesn't have many things geared for adults that is what your are very very stupid ) then that is their problem and it doesn't reflect negatively on those who actually know what there talking about.

does this matter. I personally don't see why am adult would go without kids. Whether they leave kids home or don't have any doesn't change anything about that. I'm not trying to offend those that like it, but I consider those people to be the "Disney Obsessed". It's your hobby and more power to you.

If your family that takes one vacation a year, and the one vacation as adults you choose to take is to leave your children at home while you go to the most magical place on earth then that's a big difference then mom and dad taking a long weekend and going down to Disney sans the kids knowing you've still got something else planned later in the year for the family.

But I'm not going to get into your finances, but trust me taking multiple vacations a year and not going into debt while doing so is possible but just like everything else a budget is required, so was planning, and everything fits into a lifestyle. Maybe your house broke? Maybe your carbroke? Maybe you spend too much on kids tuition? I can't tell you the reasons you can't afford it, all I can tell you is the ways that I can.

Yeah, I guess I'm just thinking of grabbing it and going. So fun during the food and wine festival.

He built a place that children wanted to go to, and parents were willing to go to, because it wasn't just for the kids. There's a difference. I don't think the original intention was to attract adults without children. And I truly don't mean that in a way to bash adults who go. The intention was to attract the kids and have the adults be "willing" to go.

You're wrong, and I'm sure you don't care that you're wrong, but you're still wrong. You're fairly ignorant on what Disney has to offer, and off-base with this sort of comment as well.

you're going to be hardheaded about this, and that's fine, because I'm not trying to convince you that you should change your mind I'm just telling you how it is. There is plenty of things to do for adults without kids, and families alike. Just because you don't know what they are, doesn't mean they don't exist. Golf, dining, shopping, fishing, parasailing, water parks, shows, cirque du Soleil, etc.

I'm an admitted tightwad. I put a lot into savings and retirement. I would say I could afford more vehicle and house. Daycare is a bitch though . I can afford a vacation. I just am very picky about where I'm going to spend my money. Doing the same thing isn't worth spending that money to me. I realize that's my opinion, but that's why I don't get spending money on Disney if I've been before. Kind of the point of why I don't get the trend to go back.

I'm not saying you can't afford it. I'm merely saying most can't afford it.

I can't fully comprehend this post, but where did I call anyone weird?? I have family that are Disney people. I'm only saying why people from the outside don't get it. You are getting defensive about it. I've repeatedly said I wasn't trying to bash anyone, and that these things seemed strange to me, but to each their own. That may not portray well through a message board, but by that I mean I don't get it, but you can do what you want and have fun doing it.

The defensiveness comes from people like the OP saying shite like it's "mental retardation" if adults like Disney.

A majority of the adult stuff you know today was not there when the park opened. The original intention was not for this. I'm not saying they don't have anything for adults. If you haven't gotten that from my posts, you can't read. And I think that they do cater to adult only vacations now. I do not think that was on Walt's radar when he originally built the park though.

His original idea was an experimental city (talking about WDW specifically). Families, couples, etc. were to live there and it was meant to be a place to test new technology in the home and in transportation and infrastructure. Eventually became EPCOT.

I do agree that EPCOT was designed for adults. I've watched several documentaries on the history of Disney and I know that to be true. It's also probably why I absolutely hated EPCOT as a kid . But, I think every other park is designed with children in mind.

Maybe I had you confused with the other people calling adults going to Disney weird and obsessed. The point I was trying to make is that just because some people are ignorant to the fact that Disney is awesome for adults especially young adults doesn't mean we should accept the idea that our behavior is odd. Those people are just ignorant plain and simple. One thing that you did say is that people from the outside don't understand it. I think most people do get it and wish they could afford it or swing it with their families. I think it is a vocal minority trying to frame it as odd or obsessive most likely because their life is boring.

well since you don't the difference between good food and bad food, I cant tell you to go because they actually have several really good restaurants. Other than that I'd just say try it once, there are a couple of cool things. I just wish they had more "extreme" rides. Even what is considered to be most extreme there is pretty tame. And I know Disney isn't for people to go on extreme rides

I hate Disney, but it's more because of the trip that I went on than the place itself. The time we went was with another family who had been many times. They had us up at 7 AM every day so that we wouldn't "miss" anything. Never back to the room before midnight. The mom had everyday planned out with an agenda. HATED IT

That's the thing people are trying to say, just because you go to the same place doesn't mean you do the same thing.

In March I can go see Braves spring training, play golf, go to the waterpark, spent two days at the theme park, and play putt putt.

Then I can go in December, and go to a Christmas party, see shows, eat at Victoria and Albert's, go fishing, and take a private tour through The utility Corredor's and such. That's the point, just because you go back to Disney every year doesn't mean you do the same things every year. It can vary based off what time you that you go, whether you bring your kids, but do you have kids, what resort your stay at, and a lot of time simply how many days you want to be in the parks.

And yes, most people can't afford to do Disney the way that I do it and take other vacations. But quite frankly, most people can't afford to cars that they drive, or the house that they live it, or the credit card debt that they carry, but I'm not talking about what other people do or should do. I'm only here to say that you can go to Disney year after year, do different things, and still take other vacations with or without your family.
