Is it a form of mental retardation or am I missing something?

Because they're fricking immature and have something missing from their lives.

Reminds them of happier and simpler times. Probably a lot of good memories linked to that stuff. I don't see the issue.

But some do take it a little too far.

I'm not obsessed with it, but if you can't enjoy yourself as an adult in Disney world, then there's something wrong with you as a person.

The roller coasters, the food, it's just fun.

I find it strange and I often wonder what makes people tick.

The only adult I know who's "obsessed" with Disney is a rich house wife with three kids. Lots of great restaurants and places to drink while keeping the kids busy

As an adult, parent, married, three kids...I wasn't sure about dropping the coin to go to disney our first time. I did not thinks there was any way on GODS green earth that they could remotely even come close to providing me with value.

I was wrong. The service was unreal. Yes it can be a crazy crowded cash trap....but damn, they go out of their way to make you feel that it is appreciated. Whether it is the dad rubbing two nickels together to get the family there for a day or the dad dropping major coin to stay at the Floridian for ten days.....disney has figured out how to both their families feel equally appreciated.

That is the magic. The service. I have since read several books on the subject and you would be surprised at the number of Fortune 500 companies who send their folks to disney for service training. Not to mention the thousands of other companies.

We make it a point to go to disney at least once a year as a fam and the wife and i also do food and wine with friends. We also joined the vacation club. However, we use the club to go elsewhere as well. It has helped us go to New Zealand, San Francisco, Chicago, and beach trips as well.

Short answer...my family enjoys it, we do the parks at our pace and disney provides us with exceptional service. If we ever get anything less...we let them know and they make it better.

Why are some people obsessed with care free vacations at a theme park packed with stuff to do both for your kids and for adults that has some of the world's best roller coasters, everything from cafeteria to fine dining and is in a gorgeous part of Florida as well as boasting some of the absolute best customer service in the world?

No idea. Sounds horrible.

Why are some adults obsessed with SEC football, NFL, NBA, MLB, etc?

People like different stuff. Some people take Disney what I consider too far, but so do some sports fans, some music fans, some people who workout a lot, etc.

Never been to Disney World. But I've been to Dollywood several times and I love it.

Because there are so many different things you can do with your children other than get brainwashed into thinking that's the end all be all. I don't mind people enjoying it...the people who act like freaked out dorks about it and try to impose their geeked out ways on me is what turns me off. I know grown ups that act like special needs children just thinking about someone dressed up as a mouse.

I've been three times. While it is not my ideal vacation destination (I'd prefer to see things of historical significance, etc.), it is pretty much a week of being completely carefree in a magical perfect world. There's fun to be had for everyone, from kids to adults, so it's also a pretty agreeable destination for most people. There's a large variety of things to do among all the parks.

Went to Disney for the honeymoon and had a blast. Going in January to bring our little girl and run a marathon.
