learned valuable lessons and have great memories riding the bus.

I rode a bus from K until I started driving and don’t remember any valuable lessons learned nor did I get hardened And for the most part this was in New Orleans. My kids through elementary get drove to school but around jr high will ride a bus since they get home earlier than elementary, it’s over an hour difference. Older boys iirc started riding bus in 7th grade

Because buses are the most likely place for kids to get molested.

Is it because they don’t want Braxton on a bus for whatever reason?
. Whatever reason being, heaven forbid they may have to be on the same bus as J’Quelyn and A-Aron.

Learned important stuff: fighting, talking to broads, picking on nerds. Also learned not to jack off in public like this kid Steven. Steven blew his load on the seat, so of course we called him Spider-Man for years after

You can still jack off in public just got to be more subtle

I didn’t live in a good area but we honestly didn’t fight much on the bus, waiting on the bus and after let off was another story. There were some on the bus but one fight and you weren’t allowed to ride the bus again for that school year, and the drivers didn’t play

Not in the truly elite schools.

Our private schools don’t have busses. Between my two teens they have gotten on busses maybe five times in their life for going on field trips

Acadian Thruway in Baton Rouge. People will start block the outside southbound lane around 1:30 PM for the Baton Rouge Center for Visual and Performing Arts and it backs up almost to Broussard. Causes a choking traffic jam. I don't see how it is legal. Acadian has no shoulder. Same for the Louisiana Key Academy, the traffic backs up onto Government St. .

Once upon a time I agreed with you. However, after you have small kids you realize that waiting for the bus is worse than waiting in carpool. Now, once they are old enough to wait for the bus alone, they should ride the cheese.

My daughter and I get an extra hour of sleep in the morning by me driving her. As for picking her up, it's a chance to step away from the desk for a quick ride to get some fresh air and sunlight.

I assume you're talking about the people who are there 10-20 mins before school lets out. I don't get those people, either. I'd rather pick her up 10 mins late and miss the line than sit in line for 30 mins by getting there early.

My Mother and Mother In Law are both retired but they allow my 6yr old daughter to absolutely run their lives. It is crazy but my little one will tell them both that they need to be 1 of the first 5 cause their group of friends “competes” to see who gets picked up first the most.

I can’t even begin to imagine the countless hours those two wait just so they can boast about being first let alone top 5. I’m typically screeching up with 5 min to spare.

Rode the bus for 12 years. Good times. We lived way out in the country.
I remember our bus driver pulling off the road to let a couple of guys duke it out.
Another time, we all got off and took a piss. Old school bus driver let us know that if we shook it more than twice, we were playing with it.

We stopped waiting in car pool lines since they were in 5th grade, and our kids have never rode a bus to or from school.

Only time they ride a bus is for sporting events or field trips.

Otherwise they get dropped off and walk the rest of the way

Now my oldest drives so we don’t worry about him.
