You house your rules. My dog is not allowed on the furniture. So don't bring your dog to my house and let him get on the furniture.

Of course this is most reasonable and I totally agree, my earlier comment was more too...

If they have this kind of differences now, wait till later - Oh Man and finally his fiancee' to be wife will somewhere in the 7th and 12th year of marriage let her long hidden and building anger show, my 2 cents

If you let him win with the dogs on the couch, the next thing you know he will barge in a sit on "your chair". frick that shite.

You do have a "chair", don't you.

It's a slippery slope, you have to show him who is the pack leader.

Your house.. Your rules.. As a man, he should respect that. The only issue here is them not contacting the daughter about visiting.. Probably nothing and unintentional but if somehow it's related to the dog.. The father is either a pussy or pussy whipped

Count your blessings. One holiday I had 7 dogs at my house.
Your house, your rules.
Have them over for dinner.

What's the difference between in laws and out-laws?

The real question is:

Will the fiancé have a say in whether or not dogs are allowed on their couch, when they're married?

does future MIL treat your fiancee as such. if so, run!!!

father made several comments

no doubt egged on by future MIL. He probably doesn't have a sack.

ditto

You know what FIL's problem is? He's putting the pooch on a pedestal.

Here's a suggestion: next time they come over, make sure MIL isn't around and get him talking about the dog. More than likely he's going to confide in you that he hates the fricking dog too and you 2 can bond and what not.
