Maybe I missed it, but I did not see Morgan Freeman listed anywhere. He's pretty good. He has also been rated as one of the most underpaid per role.

Morgan Freeman
He is another good one, but I think most of his roles are supporting cast instead of lead.

BTW, I really enjoyed Last Vegas

I can't really narrow it down too much. Best actor?

Several come to mind as consistently good. In no particular order.
Lewis
Oldman
Walken
Dafoe
Washington
Hanks
Spacey

You know why Nick Cage doesn't go to any Hollywood funerals?

You can't have two stiffs at a funeral.

I think Daniel Day Lewis is in a category by himself. He's amazing. Not just taking about him playing Lincoln, Bill the Butcher & Daniel Plainview, but go all the way back to the late 80s/early 90s, where he played in My Left Foot & Last of the Mohicans.

Day Lewis is unbelievable but he could use a huge performance as more of a regular dude. What a legend though. I think this generations best overall actor is Christian Bale. He's taken a few paycheck movies and that keeps him out of some people's ballot because most really respected actors don't do that.

Tom Hanks isn't that close really. Hate to go with a cliche choice, but I got to go with DDL. The guy is just incredible.

Not saying he's the best, but Leonardo DiCaprio's role in Django was one of the best I've seen in a long time.

I'd say that both Waltz and Jackson were better than he was in that film.

Gary Oldman is probably the most skilled actor. Hanks has been in more blockbusters, but for pure craft, Oldman gets my vote.

Oldman is a solid choice for sure, and may actually be better than DDL.

Denzel is a one nose actor IMO

Appreciate the work of PSH, Oldman and DDL. Hate to say it but Hanks can be very good.

Meh. He's one of the best at choosing films and because of his cachet he's got his pick of the litter. I think there's a lot of actors that could do as good of a job as him in a lot of those roles, they just don't get the chance.

Yeah, I got lit into in the M/TV board the other day for suggesting that Leo wasn't one of the greatest actors of his generation. As far as choosing iconic roles is concerned, he's absolutely near the top. But there are plenty of actors that could do as good of a job as he did in several of his roles. As much as I love the movie, he was terribly miscast in "Gangs of New York", and DDL completely destroys his performance on every level (and especially Diaz's, who just sucks as an actor). Leo is good, don't get me wrong, but one of the all time best, please. Compare him to Christian Bale, and it's not close.

The only thing I can't agree with you is The Aviator. His boyish looks couldnt convince me he was Howard Hughes.

I have to disagree with you as well. Its one of the few roles I couldn't think of anyone but DiCaprio in that role. I think he was very well cast there.
