Favorite son ! , favorite son ! The years that payton was at UT , LSU was a top five program we were one payton short of some national championships ! At the time, I was hoping he would break a leg !
Having said this ,I do have to recognize the fact that it was self preservation on payton's part ,because Archie would have strangled him in his sleep if would mumbled LSU !

For the longest time it was unquestionably Billy Cannon.

Bradshaw would be the most likely candidate today.
