You're getting mixed up. Psychiatrists treat the imbalance, but rarely if ever do any therapy. Psychologists and social workers do therapy. But, I would never recommend one as someone who tried that shite for years. It's a waste of money.

I also think Flecha is very good.
She will not be able to progress in any sort of cognitive-behavioral treatment unless she gets settled down first with medication. Lower the anxiety first then begin retraining with treatment. It can be very effective.

Counseling actually worked well for me also. I still have really bad OCD and ADHD but the meds side effects are intolerable to me so I had to learn to accept it, laugh at it, and not be embarrassed or care if other people think I am weird. Therapy helped with that a lot.
Exactly. Therapy is pointless for severe OCD. But I don't have the type where they can do aversion therapy or anything like that. They just wanted to talk about shite in my past, and I just wanted to move forward.
