It's ugly.
Get an attorney asap and make sure you become super beta and don't so much as raise your voice until that decree is signed and you're free.
Document everything..paper trail is crucial.
Prepare for a few lean years post divorce.
It's worth it.

Ouch. I suggest counseling. There is a possibility, however slight it might be, that you are the problem. Regardless, if you have a kid you should do everything humanly possible to make it work.

I think all marriages get to this point, to some degree. It can be hard to be loving to someone else when they become selfish and refuse to change.

Have you tried any marriage counselling? Even if you separate, the counselling could help you understand why the split is happening.

Bit selfish to penalize the kid just because you are mad at the mother. Fornication has consequences

it's more than being mad. This has been ongoing in my mind for about a year. I keep trying to make myself work it out, but I don't think it's fair to her or me if I'm not into it.

Are you 14? You don't just quit because "I'm not into it."

Seriously, tell me about this awesome life you are envisioning without her and seeing your kid half the time. Does it involve bars and strange women?

Seems like you have no idea how much this is going to cost you. I bet you change your mind once you find out how screwed you are going to get after all is said and done.

Read LaFlyer's thread first and decide if that's how you want things to go.

I'd be pretty miserable if I only saw my kids every other weekend

Because you're about to make at least three people's lives (bare minimum) absolute shite for the foreseeable future. Yours included.

Are you planning on active involvement with your child, if you are, you are going to be interacting with her daily for some time. When your kid has kids, they are going to have to haul their asses all over town to see all the split family until you wither away and die. I say that to demonstrate that this move changes everything in your life, seeing your kids, grandkids, what you do on vacation, on and on.........

Make sure you just aren't being petty before you do this, I am divorced 14 years ago now with a 17 yo, I can promise you that being a 50% parent 100% of the time is easier than being a 100% parent 50% of the time.
