Couple of guys doing some demo work across the street from my house offered to try and fix a lawnmower of mine that wasn't working too well. They got it running but it still sounded pretty rough. I guess one of the guys thought there might be some thing stuck on the blade and commenced to try and lift the deck while it was running.

Clipped the top of his middle and ring finger pretty good. Blood everywhere. Ambulance took about 10 minutes to get there.

This happened to me last night.

I left the gym and went to Kroger for chocolate milk. As soon as I walk in the door, there's a guy face down on the floor shaking with a puddle of spit on the floor. A couple of workers were just looking at him from about 40 feet away and one woman was on the phone. I said, "Are you calling 911?!" She replied, "No, I'm calling my manager." :sigh:

So, I called 911 and checked the guy's pulse. He was really hot to the touch (which was weird) and his breathing was pretty shallow. Pulse was slow. 911 answered and I told them what happened. They transferred me to the local police department. They answered, I told them the emergency, and they transferred me to the local ambulance service. I wait, on hold, feeling really scared for the guy. The ambulance service answered, I told them what happened, and the fire department showed up 20 minutes later.

frick my life if I ever need a competent emergency responder in less than 10 minutes.

As a lifeguard as someone lost consciousness.

Another time because an obnoxiously obvious drunk driver was behind me. I could tell because it was 4am and his lights were too far to the left, ie he was off the road. He then stopped in the middle of an intersection 20 feet too late to the right side of me. Some cops were right there on the access road but they couldn't hear me. He sped off and went towards the little airport in town.

Next morning the newspaper reported that a truck went off the road and the driver died. I suspect that was him.

Called them when I thought my daughter was dying. She was having a febrile seizure but it basically looks like a person isn't breathing or responding. Wasn't waiting for an ambulance so hopped in the car and hauled arse to the hospital.

Called when I witnessed/stopped to help during a bad wreck. Got out and got instructions from the operator for first aid on these folks who were bleeding from kissing the windshield.

Twice for work related accidents and once for a wreck that happened. All 3 times there were responders here within about 3-5 minutes.

Probably several times a year for different things.

We live in Metairie and every year there is always a string or two of house break ins in our area. It always puts us on edge so we see a suspicious person in the area we'll call it in.

About 18 months ago I woke up a car alarm going off. I looked out the window and a guy was bolting down the street. Cops came out and caught the guy hiding in someone's garden.

I once followed a drunk driver trying to direct the cops where to go but it must have been a high call night because I don't think the cops ever caught up with the driver.

first: I was 14 and came across a car that had wrecked outside my neighborhood. Turned out the driver was OD-ing. Watched medics hit him with adrenaline

second: I woke up unable to breathe. Turns out I had a allergic reaction to some chinese food that caused the glands in my throat to swell and block my airway. Paramedics arrived and hit me with an epi-pen

third: guided APSO to a horribly intoxicated driver that I had followed for 10miles. Drunk woman crossed the centerline 5 times on highland almost hitting 3 cars headon. She eventually wrecked on hwy621 running off into a ditch on the right side of the rd, bouncing off, crossing 621 eventually coming to a rest in the left side ditch. I'd love to hear my recording bc that was some HAIRY shite

Once for a block party a neighbor threw that lasted until 3 am during the middle of the week. He moved out within a week. I seriously hope he and every single person in his family died very slowly and very painfully.

A bunch of times. Once for a propane bottle left in an intersection. I thought it was suspicious, so I called it in. Took the police well over 15 minutes to respond. It apparently fell off of someones truck.

Another time for an amber alert kidnapping. I id'd the vehicle, and followed it while communicating with police. They caught the kidnapper... Which turned out to be the kid's grandmother who was in a dispute with her daughter. It was bull shite.

Two years ago a young lady that was texting and driving rearended my 83 CJ7 and pretty much totaled her Tahoe. She had a small kid in the vehicle as well and both were injured pretty badly when I checked on them so I called 911 for a cop and ambulance.

Twice. First time a crazy woman was yelling at traffic at a busy intersection, thought she was going to get hit and killed.

Second time trying to move a hot tub and a friend cut off part of his finger when it fell on top of it. He went into shock.

I called 911 for the following:

Corvette going about 100 runs slam into a truck on I-10 in MS. Flipped. No idea how or why that happened. Injuries, not sure if fatal.

Guy lit himself on fire (suicide) on Lake St. in Lake Charles. I was driving by and spotted his still-smoking remains.

In Homewood, AL on New Years Eve, car full of Mexicans pass me going about 70 in a 45. They go around a curve and hit another car head-on. Severe injuries, blood everywhere.

Last time I called 911 was a few months ago on Government St. There was an open manhole near OLOM. Cars were zipping past it like no big deal. It was only a matter of time before a wheel eventually hit it. They got it marked off in time, though.

My roommate in law school called 911 when a big vanity mirror in my bathroom fell off the wall, shattered on my back and cut me up pretty good. Some off duty EMT happened to live in my apartments, so he got there quickly, but it took a while for the ambulance to show up

Damn that sucks, almost more for you than him because a lawsuit is 100% coming your way.
