I just graduated and they called me asking for money 3 months later.

So I donated $20,000 just to get them out of my hair.

not being nosy, handling these kinds of issues is what my wife does, what's the financial/employment/insurance status of the family member that owes, or the one that had the treatment/procedure?

This kind of attitude in this state is another reason why LSU will never be a first-rate public university.

Texas endowment: 7.2 billion
UC Berkeley: 3.3 billion
Michigan: 9.47 billion
Florida: 1.3 billion
UNC: 2.381 billion

LSU: 692 million

I paid them for a service. I feel no obligation to give them more money when I get no return from it. Just my opinion though. I don't care if someone else feels compelled to donate to their university.

Yep. And most of the people in this thread who aren't giving were receiving TOPS or the benefit of the majorly state-subsidized tuition rates before TOPS. LSU is now funded more by private monies than state dollars and the gap is widening.

Sorry I'm not a billionaire electrical engineer like the rest of the OT. I can't afford to donate money.

I don't think paying tuition counts because The tuition is already subsidized by the state. LSU does not make a profit off of it students so by you paying for your children's tuition, you are simply funding their classes and other expenses at the school. You're getting a really good deal and not advancing the school. You are sustaining the school but you're not helping to build the endowment. Now why do schools have these huge endowments? That's a good question. I don't think they should. Should schools have billions of dollars and endowment? No no no.

I pay my tuition through cash and my reserve GI bill(1300 per semester). I earned both with a lot of hard work, I see how LSU manages their money and if they want to get off their asses and do a better job and give me a REASON to donate I will.
