Military power or economic power?

Brazil is a quiet one getting up there in economic output and has tons of resources and a population over 200 million. They could easily start becoming a military power if they ever wanted to invest in it.

Russia also big dicked the whole world twice. Once in Georgia and once in Ukraine.

Saddam invades Kuwait and gets worked, but no one did shite to Russia. Russia also was responsible for shooting down a passenger jet. Iran can't even bomb a Wendy's without catching a missile.

To fit the traditional definition you need the economic and military components. The USA after WWII was the only nation that combined both. The USSR was a superpower strictly because of its military power, its economy was nothing compared to the US or it’s Allies. Today China has a rapidly expanding military that can compete with the USA. China will soon be able to match or exceed USA military power.

China a half mile back

Well China is systematically taking over the US deep and wide, including at the highest levels of government and corporate control, so at this point I’d rank them ahead of us.

You can't until they "beat" us in a hot war. That's the only way the the Eurodollar system gets taken out.

They don’t have to beat us in a hot war. They’re devouring us from the inside using our own greed and idiotic political ideology.

Its not Russia. That’s for sure they are just trolls. Texas has a larger gdp than Russia.

Germany and Japan cannot compare to the US or even China in this regard.

Sure US and China are near the top. I agree. They check all the boxes. Maybe I misunderstood the Op question. I thought we ranking world superpowers. Not limiting to the top 2.

Influence is my arbitrary qualification. If there was a a major world conflict, I’d sure prefer to be on the side of the team that has 100% of Germany and Japan’s engineering, technology, manufacturing focus. Those countries have the wealth, population, intelligence, ambition and infrastructure to change the outcome of a hypothetical conflict.

And again, that’s based on a military conflict which I feel is just a fraction of this topic.

The five permanent members of the UN Security Council.

United States
France
Russia
United Kingdom
China

The rest is laughable, unless you consider the other nuclear 'powers' of India, Pakistan, and I guess North Korea.

I’m saying there are only 2 superpowers at the most. The countries after that are global powers but they’re not superpowers.

Again I don’t think you understand. I’m not saying Germany and Japan are completely useless. They are major world players. They do have an impact on the world.

But being a superpower means a country has mastered every single area they can. Like I said
quote:

There is no official definition of the word but all include some level of mastering the seven dimensions of state power. Like geography, population, economy, resources, military, diplomacy, and national identity. You can’t be severely lacking in one area and still be considered one.

Again I think there’s quite a misunderstanding of being a superpower entails. The whole point of word is to highlight countries that can dominate the world in every possible way. It doesn’t mean all the other countries are irrelevant. Having an extremely powerful military and being a major nuclear power is one of them. If you have an ally that does this for you but you can’t do it yourself, you can’t be considered one. A global power yes, but a super power is complete in every phase.

Think of it like a football team. A “superpower”/complete team has an elite offense, defense, ST, and coaching. They can beat you through the air, ground, defense, and out coach you. They have multiple facets of dominance. A great but not complete team may have a great offense and coaching but lacking defense. That doesn’t mean they’re not still a great team but their defense in certain instances can hold them back. They don’t earn the superpower moniker.
