Argument is it’s not about the price tag...it’s about the message you’re trying to send.

Now this...this is a solid response.

Let’s have more of this, shall we?

Question is kinda flawed in my opinion. None of those are terribly uppity brands as they’re all increasingly accessible to middle class folks. Most of those cover wide ranges and thus the brands in their entirety have lost some prestige and therefore the uppity factor too. When I was a kid seeing a Mercedes in the burbs was something I might notice, now I’m sure suburban kids see 50 a day almost anywhere. A decent Tahoe is more expensive than probably 75% of the output of those brands.

BMW probably draws the most douchebags of the bunch and I like BMW. But none have the 95% douche level of say, Porsche - which obviously doesn’t cover the wide swaths of the other. That’s not to disparage the brands themselves, just the people who might be attracted to the perceived prestige.

My vote is for the Japanese triumvirate of Acura/Lexus/Infiniti.

Soccer mom’s willing to pay a premium for a badge that’s really nothing more than a Honda/Toyota/Nissan.

At least BMW/Mercedes/Porsche are historical luxury brands.

Infinity is the trash brand compared to Lexus/Acura because Nissan is the trash brand compared to Honda/Toyota.

The QX80 is obnoxiously large and obnoxiously ugly. Not everyone who drives one is a complete a-hole--but the part of them that thought it was the right choice is an a-hole.

I bought my wife a Navigator. It’s a below the radar, sleeper luxury vehicle. It’s on the level of an Escalade, but cost tens of thousands less. Hers did anyway.

The MSRP of their entry-level models are all pretty close

But let’s look at the QX80 vs the LX 570 for example:

QX80 starts out at $69K

LX 570 starts out at $86K

And I’m also willing to bet that you can get a lot more off the MSRP of an Acura or Infiniti than you could a Lexus

I don’t know what’s uppity and what’s not, but I have noticed that everyone I know who drives a Range Rover is a bit of a tool bag.

They’re Honda’s luxury brand. Doesn’t mean they’re Bentleys, but they’re to Honda what Lexus is to Toyota.

Acura is to Honda was what Buick is to Chevy.

Not a true luxury brand.

They’re just mad because it spends more time at the dealer than driving them around thinking they look cool.

Buy the cheapest Land Rover they sell and you will spend more time driving the dealer loaner that will be a more expensive car... profit. Same with Jaguar.
