They’re Honda’s luxury brand. Doesn’t mean they’re Bentleys, but they’re to Honda what Lexus is to Toyota.

Well, I don’t know. I guess anybody can afford those if they willing to pay the $850 note. I’m told that’s common nowadays.

I’m tempted to say Cadillac and Tesla are the least douchiest.

My wife drives a Mercedes. Maintenance cost are a bitch but the overall price isn’t really any different from any other vehicle these days.

Shout out to the $150,000 invested F-250 driver and his bass boat bitching about my uppity wife driving a $50,000 Mercedes. I’m sure you’d be a whole lot richer if you were single :eyeroll:

Acura and Infiniti try to be Lexus, but they’ll never be

Argument is it’s not about the price tag...it’s about the message you’re trying to send.

I would say the Japanese brands (Acura, Infiniti, Lexus), Tesla, and the Cadillac. These are at least somewhat practical, as maintenance/repairs are cheaper due to their Japanese mainstream vehicle counterparts (or GM in cadillac’s Case). Or just the lack of need for maintenance and gas in tesla’s Case.

Although Infiniti has a “new money” vibe to me in general, compared to the Lexus or Acura.

I’m trying to talk my wife into a Cadillac Escalade in 2-3 years. I have no idea how it’s perceived but every time I’ve road in one, it’s been pretty amazing.

I don’t think of a Lexus as uppity. It’s such a reliable car. I think, yeah they have money, but they are also smart.

Well I drive an old truck with 180,000 miles on it. I’ll get another older used one when this craps out because I really don’t care. My wife likes Mercedes for some reason and wants a nice vehicle. We’re not sending a message to anyone. We pay cash for vehicles and can afford a lot more if we wanted so who cares?

Toyotas are so nice these days, what’s the point buying a Lexus other than status? Is there any practical difference justifying the price difference?

Infinity

Is that the Chinese knockoff of an Infiniti?

I don't really the uppity issue unless you are parking an AMG or Maybach S class beside a single wide especially when you can buy a vehicle from every one of those manufacturers for less then a super loaded pickup truck and can be bought by anyone with a half-decent job and a solid credit score.

Buy what you like to drive.

The only really uppity brands there are BMW and Mercedes. Infiniti and Land Rover are leverage-driven ripoffs- you buy into something fancy, but it's not going to last and the banks / insurers know that.

The rest of them offer decent value propositions if you can afford them.

Interiors and technology are a ton better. Toyota’s interiors are reliable. Lexus interiors are higher grade. Tech is a lot better.

Question still stands.

I agree with this (not just because I am a Lexus driver). I bought a two year old Lexus SUV for less than a new Ford Explorer with somewhat similar features (leather, AWD, etc.). The way I saw it is in five years would I rather own a 7 year old Lexus or a 5 year old Ford. Feel like Acura and Lexus vehicles hold their value and quality so well.

I would argue that the opposite is true for Land Rover (mainly) and Jaguars. Nice cars off the lot but long term reliability is questionable.
