Which gets you wetter - standing or running in rain?

Meauxjeaux Gas mileage spin-off - Does more rain hit you if you're standing still, or running in the rain? Same amount of time in the rain.

Running and it's not even close

I suppose it matters what you are running to

pretty sure mythbusters had a segment on this. I dont recall the outcome, but I would think it depends on a few variables.

Trick question. Swimming because it's in water duh! Plus you burn more calories but only for half the time

Well there is a major flaw in your equation which is not counting for time.
If the person running gets inside while the person standing is just continuously getting soaked, then it would be the guy standing by a mile.

Mythbusters did a show on it and you get the same whether you are walking or running to a distance. If you are standing still (without any type of cover over your head) and running for the same period of time, you would also have the same amount of water on you. They used purple die in water and weighed the painters covers they were wearing and determines it was the same

I feel like it is only correlated to time. Thus for a given distance, running is drier. But if you walk for 30 seconds or run for 30 seconds, it would be the same wetness (ignoring bottoms up splash from running bein higher). All because rain coming from above doesn't care how fast you're moving as long as it's coming down uniformly throughout your path. The additional water you catch on your frontside based on intersecting those drops is offset by the water you're getting out of the way of behind you. Your exposed surface area in relation to the rain cloud is the same assuming your posture doesn't change.
eta I read it as walk vs run but my answer remains the same conceptually

I like how the video presumes that when you run, the next drop will already be there.....they don't consider the fact the next raindrop could be gone by then......

Didn't mythbusters do this?

I think myth busters did this but I could be wrong. Can anyone confirm?
