I'm not sure exactly where because there are too many choices, but surely somewhere where the weather never gets too hot or humid, and near the mountains.

I will follow the many people who said Denver and the surrounding areas of Boulder and Colorado Springs.

NE is beautiful this time of year, so Boston or New York would be a good choice, but brace yourself for winter.

Why here?

It's got a lot to offer and has absolutely stunning upscale neighborhoods such as Cary.

Spent 4 years near there and loved it. Lots of outdoorsy activities great nightlife, beautiful educated women

Take advantage of the geographic arbitrage. I can ball out of control in Birmingham, AL but would be broke as a mother fricker in San Deigo (where I would pick).

I lived there for 5 years and will be returning soon. Great schools, SD airport is 20 mins.

Yeah I love Raleigh as well. I was just curious to hear someone else's feedback.

It's possible I could live there someday. We spent 4 days camping and loved it. Great combination of wildlife, mountains, ocean, rivers and lakes, and damn few people and hard to get to. Nearly perfect.

I'm getting closer. My job allows me to work remotely much of the year, if I choose.

I'm really enjoying Ocean Springs at the moment. Fits my and my family's personalities well. YMMV.

I'd probably have to look at these metros and live in a suburb.

Denver
SLC
San Jose

Since you have kids

Orlando
Irvine
Westchester County, NY (golf courses galore if you're into golf)
MPLS
Nashville

Which major airport is two hours away?

I guess this thread needs to establish which airports in America are "major airports".
