I bought my first ever mixed drink at Eric's. Crown and seven with a twist (because I overheard a girl near me at the bar order one). I was 15.

Not to sound like a Jason Andean song, but all we had was a DQ in my small hometown. Most Friday and Saturday night “parties” were at spots on oil field backroads.

Hi-Ho BBQ in Ponchatoula (the old one before it burned down). We could get three sauce buns and a root beer in the bottle on the way home from school for $2.

Growing up a guy from your neck of the woods operated a private air strip here flying banners at the beach and paid us 10.00 an hour all summer to work for him. He had a house boat at the cove, Barry seal.

I was not one of the cool skate guards. Jim Jim, John, Lonnie, David, Frank and his brother Tommy, Hopsing. They were the cool ones. I was second or third tier (but I loved that job). Still Facebook friends with the DJ and several people who were there at the same time. Good times.

He was at my house a half dozen times in the early '80s. Even flew in a Cessna with him as a kid. A few of my uncles may have been in the same....industry he was in.

My Dad and all of his cronies owned at least one Mad Dog Saloon T-shirt.
