How old are your kids? If they are in high school, I would try to get them into one of the academies. If that doesn't work, move to Youngsville or get into the Woodvalle/Broadmoor area and your kids will be zoned for Alleman and Lafayette High.

Big question is: How much do you want to spend on housing

How are the high speed internet options there?

Should be able to get good internet speed with Cox. In the city of Lafayette you can get a Gig from LUS.

ave been through Woodvale, Broadmoor, Edgar Martin and LHS and i wouldn't hesitate to do it again

Me and my siblings did this as well except I went to Woodvale and Alleman. We tried Tuerlings for a couple of years with my sister and I but we both ended up transferring to LHS and got into the gifted program. Wouldn't have it any other way.

There are 3 nice houses for sale in my neighborhood just outside of Crowley. Kid friendly country neighborhood with at least acre lots. I've commuted to Youngsville for the last 5 1/2 years and it's not a bad commute taking back roads. Only thing is the public schools suck but they have a few good private schools in town

These are your options for the Lafayette area:

1. Buy in the city limits. Pay for an older house that will need updating if so desired. Older house with larger yards. Some pretty good schools. Usually shorter drive to schools, shopping, nightlife. etc.

2. Buy in new developments in po-dunk town. Your house was more than likely built on what was previous agriculture. Your house will be a cookie cutter just like everyone else's in the neighborhood. Good schools that are overcrowded. Nightmare of a 'commute' to work. Very small yard with your neighbor 8 feet away from you on both sides of your lot.

3. Build in out-lying area but have to provide your own water/sewage system. Yard can be as large as you want. Schools could be long distance from home and should be a private school. Commute will also be a nightmare.

There you go

I don't get the love for Youngsville. 10% sales tax, takes 20 minutes to get to Laffy, traffic in the mornings and afternoons is horrible, bad roads, cookie cutter shitty built houses, etc. I have no idea why Laffy grew that way instead of towards Maurice/Abbeville.
